GTAV is one of the games I am really looking forward too this year, and its one of the best send offs for this generation of consoles, and GTAV will make it go out with a bang. It cost over £170million to develop making it the most expensive video game of all time.
GTAV is developed by British developer Rockstar games, who have created classics such as Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption and the GTA franchise as a whole. I’ve come to enjoy Rockstar’s games this generation, and they’ve always made sure their games are memorable. I also love open world games too, so GTAV is one of those games that heavily appeals to me.
Rockstar is based in Scotland and employs thousands of people, and there are opporunities for people with massive skill sets such as VFX, Coding, Design, illustrators, audio productions and more showing that despite most of the development studios being outside the UK there are many opportunities here for people to get into the gaming industry.
I admit after GTAIV didn’t meet my expectations I wasn’t initially interested in GTAV, but as the facts poured in thanks to CVG’s GTAVoClock show on YouTube, well lets just say that the last GTA game that got me excited was San Andreas and I loved that game, and history repeats its self.
A lot of people are asking what we’re all going to be doing first, while I don’t speak for the millions …. and millions of GTA fans out there I can tell you that the first hour of GTA is going to see me busting myths about what vehicles can survive a drop from Mount Chilliad, and then I’ll be paying Grove Street a visit to …. acquire a weapon from the good people who live there.
As for GTA Online, I am really looking forward to that. Rockstar’s games this generation have had some of the best multi-player modes ever, with Red Dead Redemption being my favourite. Most developers just tack the multi-player on, but Rockstar always take their time to develop a really amazing online experience. Check out the video below for more information about GTA Online. Oh and it won’t be released for two weeks after the game launches.

What did make me laugh is that people were complaining about the 8GB install for GTAV. I responded to most of these asking if that’s all. Think about how big GTAV will be, 8GB for a game that big …. its nothing. That installation will take about 30 minutes – 1 hour tops, which is again nothing for me.
I’ve also seen some of the cars in the game. When I saw them, I instantly thought that Top Gear should do a GTAV special show where they talk about GTAV and have to take part in a fake bank heist as a challenge. Honestly there are sports cars, …. more sports cars, sheds on wheels (old rusty cars), and trucks, 4×4’s … the works.
Also for pre-ordering the game I got an atomic blimp, which is something that hasn’t been usable in a GTA game before so it should be a laugh flying that thing around. Check out the video below to see an overview of the types of cars and vehicles we’ll get to drive. There are tanks, but they seem very difficult to get since they are of course protected by the Army.

GTAV is going to be the biggest game of 2013 and its something you shouldn’t miss out on. If you happen to get it on PS3 add me on the PSN so we can play GTA Online together and annoy people, steal people’s cars and generally cause mayhem.
I shall be back next week with a general overview of my impressions of the game.
